Traditional food of Tamil nadu

         1. Millet porridge(koozh)

                

Koozh is the Tamil name of millet porridge. It is made of cumbu flour and broken rice. It is considered as a religious dish to serve God. It is used along with onions, raw mangoes, butter milk and chillies. This dish is prepared in mud pot. It is very good for  our health.                              
   

             2. Idly and vada

  
  Idly and vada serves as a major breakfast. Most people likes the combination of idly and vada with coconut chutney and sambar. Idly is made with the mixture of urad dal and rice, whereas vada is prepared with Bengal gram along with curry leaves.   The vada is  then shaped and deep  fried which will be very crisp to eat. Therefore they are rich in proteins.

                   3. Sambar  

              


        Sambar is a curry which is cooked  using different vegetables. It serves as a favorite dish for many of them. Sambar will be little sour because of its tamarind content. Some famous vegetables used to cook sambar are: raddish, drumsticks, pumpkin, etc.. Sambar is served for rice, idly, dosa, vada etc.. 

              4. Muruku 

       

Muruku is one of the most famous snacks that is originated from Tamil nadu. As it is twisted, it is named like that. It is made of urad dal and rice floor with some salt, water, etc.. Then it is deep fried in oil in various shapes. It is loved by people of all over Tamil nadu.

               5. Rasam                   


   Tamarind forms the base for rasam along with tomatoes, water, pepper and cumin seeds.  It is a pre meal appitizer. It is a famous dish that is poured over rice. It is colourless, but it smelts so good.
