The elephants are an integral part of the culture and daily life in kerala. These indian elephants are given a prestigious place in state's culture. Sarpa kavu (meaning sacred grove of the serpent )is typically a small traditional groove of trees seen in kerala. These grooves usually have representations of several naga devatas(serpent gods),which were worshipped by joint families or taravads. This was part of nagaradhana (snake worship),which was prevalent among keralites during past centuries. Snake was considered as god and the people worshipped on them for getting blessings.
