Tourists places in palakkad
Palakkad district is one of the fourteen districts of Kerala. Also, it is the largest district of Kerala from 2006. The city of palakkad is the district headquarters. Palakkad is borded on the northwest by the Malappuram district, on the south west by the thrissur district, on the Northeast by the Nilgiris district, and on the east by Coimbatore district of Tamil nadu.
It is known as "The granary of Kerala" and " The rice bowl of Kerala ".
Tourists spots of palakkad
1. Palakkad fort
It is the most beautiful and the best preserved fort in Kerala. This fort was built by Hyder Ali of Mysore. This fort is also known as " Tipu's fort" , after Tipu Sultan, the son of Hyder Ali. It is under the protection of the Archeological survey of India.
2.Malampuzha dam 
It is a large irrigation dam on the bharatapuzha river on the valley of the Western Ghats. There are beautiful garden, amusement parks and boating facility on the reservoir.
3. Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary
It covers over 285 square kilometers. It has many animals like elephants, sambar, bison, guar, crocodiles, and few tigers and panthers and also it has rich assortment of semi tropical plants and trees. The cannimare teak tree, which is said to be the Asia's largest tree is grown here.
