The spiritual significance of Navaratri

Navaratri
Let us discuss the values of Indian culture and the subject matter of the Vedas with reference to the Navaratri festival.
Even though Hindus celebrate this festival every year, most have no idea of the significance of Navaratri.
RATRI means 'NIGHT' and Nava means 'NINE'. During Navaratri (the nine nights festival), the goddess is worshipped as Durga, Laksmi and Sarasvati. Though the goddess is one, her three different aspects are represented and worshipped. On the first three nights of the festival, Durga is worshipped.

  •  Lakshmi is worshipped on the next three nights, and then Sarasvati on the last three nights. The following day, the tenth day of the festival is called  Vijayadasami. Vijaya means 'Victory', the victory over our own minds that can come when we have worshipped these three: Durga, Laksmi and Sarasvati.
